Mountain Oaks School

Website: http://www.mountainoaks.org/
Mountain Oaks offers the best of independent study at home, with on-site classes and online educational opportunities. Our school was established in response to parents seeking high-quality personalized educational options for their children, and by teachers who recognized that the traditional classroom does not meet the needs of all students. Our philosophy focuses on the concept of providing a unique, high quality, standards-based learning plan for each student that includes flexibility through varied curriculum, individualized support and innovative opportunities. Honoring parent and student choice, in the context of accountability to meet or exceed State/Common Core Standards, is the cornerstone of our philosophy. Each student and their family works with a fully credentialed teacher to develop a personalized learning plan focused on optimizing that student's potential. As Mountain Oaks is a public charter school, there are no enrollment or tuition fees charged.

ATCAA Head Start/State Preschool and Early Head Start offers child enrichment, education, health, nutritional and developmental services as well as parent education and involvement opportunities.  In Amador County, we offer a full day program at our Jackson site and a morning and afternoon program in Ione. About 250 children are served each year in both counties.

We offer many opportunities for parents to become involved in our program. The Parent Policy Council (PPC) and the ATCAA Board of Directors work closely in a joint governance model to assure the Early/Head Start Program is serving the children in our communities in the best possible ways. We collaborate with other agencies such as First Five Commissions; Child Abuse Prevention Councils; Nutrition Fitness Council; Parent Advisory Groups; and many others to bring services to families. Funding is provided by the Federal Government and California Department of Education as well as fundraisers, grants, and donations from local organizations, businesses, and foundations.
